my blue silhouetted hawaii & more
A fire dancer at one of the local luaus. Just like at concerts, no flash photography allowed.
Taken at the same luau during the beginning.
I've been playing with this underwater housing (for a Nikon D70s) and its been really fun. I've only been free diving with it and there is no flash component too which would help with the color. I photoshoped this one to take away the blue haze you get without using a strobe. The lens is set for a fixed 18mm, so its kind of wide. The set up is so you can get group shots of people underwater. In this sea turtle shot, I'm actually a lot closer then it looks. And these suckers are fast if they want to be.

Really nice images! Like the blue/green color of the water! What type of housing do you use with the D70. I have a 70 myself and would like to get some type of housing unit (Looking at an Ikelite and strobes). Where you scuba or snorkeling to get shot? shot #2 could be cropped alittle tighter; head in left corner is a little distracting.
The housing is an Ikelite, a slightly older version without strobes (even tho it can be setup for them). I was snorkeling when I look the shot and I was anywhere between 15-20 feet. I had a divers belt on to help keep me down (tho I only had two pounds on it).
As far as Ikelites go, it seems like thats what most people use out here. The other brands I see use out here are Fantasea Line and Sea & Sea (S&S is $$$).
Another thing too I've talked to people about... if you're scubaing with a housing its better to get a housing thats rated to a lot more to what you usually dive with to get away from the "oh shit" factor of if you get too close to the rated depth of your housing and mess stuff up.
